That was a quick knit!

I have spent most the afternoon relaxing and knitting my camera case and it has come put pretty well!

Yesterday the pattern was driving me mad and couldn't get my head round the idea at all... but when i picked it up today it just flowed! It looks really smart too!

minus the camera, as I couldn't take the photo with it in!

I knitted a little tie too to finish it off too. I couldn't work out the ending of the bottom with the decreases in the original pattern. I am pretty sure I was doing it correctly so unless I messed up my calculations right at the beginning I think it was the pattern which was wrong? But I am only a novice knitter so it probably was me! In the end  I just gave up and just cast off. It has still come out well!

I think my next knit will be a knitting bag! I need somewhere to keep all the bits I am starting to collect.

The socks are FINALLY finished.. sort of.

I am so relieved! That felt like the longest project ever!!

And when i say finished, I am not really happy with the end of one of them...

The one on the right is the one I did the first one differently and it is much better. I wish I had written down how I had done it now as it was so long ago! But its fine, I'll take it home to mummy dearest and shell tell me where I have gone wrong!

I have already started the next project! A little camera case for my new camera! It does have a nice leather one but it makes it pretty bulky so I just want an occasional case for when I go out and want to pop it into a small bag!

This is the beginning of it! The actual pattern it relatively plain apart from the lovely tie so I thought I would make it a bit more interesting by mixing the colours! I have got as far as knitting in the eyelets but from there i want to incorporate a pattern chart which is proving more difficult than I first anticipated.

I will get there eventually!!

New Furniture!

Today involved a lovely trip to Ikea, don't you just love that place!! Getting lost following the arrows in to the deepest depths of flat pack hell!

It was worth it though as we have changed our large ugly table for a cute little drop leaf one with two matching chairs!

Before

After!
It looks great and makes the room feel huge in comparison to before! As you can see we have done an awful lot of tidying up too! The rug and the coffee table haven't been put back in this picture but it's obvious how much difference it makes!! As part of the clean up we pulled out the sofa and got behind there too... It was shocking how much dust accumulates! I would have taken a picture of that too but frankly it was embarrassing!

It would have been nice to put a little unit under the mirror there but as I write this Scott is in the process of stretching his drums out even more so that space is slowly becoming much smaller! Ill guess ill let him off though as there will now be much more space at the foot of the stairs!!

Therapy

Describing yesterday as an emotional roller coaster doesn't really do it justice, but it's the best way i can think of right now.

I had a job interview for the trust which I am training at. Its literally a 15 minute drive away so would be perfect!! It was a really difficult situation because all my peers were also interviewed and we have no idea how many jobs they are actually offering. Despite this, I was feeling pretty confident and had spent a lot of time preparing. I wasn't too stressed until I sat down in the waiting room before being called, two girls I know well were also waiting and it struck home how much I wanted this job but also so does everyone else.

It's sad really and I was getting ahead of myself but the other day I was searching rightmove for houses in the area which we could buy and start settling down properly. Getting excited about the prospect of being to work in the area and start "life".

So I walked into to interview room. And my nerves ruined everything. The first question I didn't answer to the greatest of my ability but I got there so hopefully it was enough... But the second question... I messed up... It was a clinical question and I realised I had gone wrong straight away, corrected myself and then explained why I wouldn't do it the way I said to begin with. But that was it then, I couldn't settle into it at all. I think I answered the questions well but I waffled quite a lot and don't really think I did myself justice. The worst thing is I really didn't know how to take the women who interviewed me; one of them I knew and she seemed to be quite warming so I hope that is a good sign but I didn't really know the other lady and she wasn't giving much away!

I'm just so concerned that even though I corrected myself it wont make a difference now, specially if they have some hard decisions to make because there's very little difference between us! I hope that they put it down to nerves. But who knows....

When I got home I honestly didn't know what to do with myself! I called mum which helped then spoke to Scott also. I could have done with one of the girls being around but they were all working! I sat on the front door step for ages just collecting myself together then it dawned on me! The front door step needed painting!!

So that's what I did!

Much better!

I felt so much better after doing something constructive! It will need another coat and now and it shows up the door so that will need doing too but that's fine, my project for the weekend if the weather is nice! I also finally took the plunge and brought a mini greenhouse/seed propagater which I have wanted for ages!

I know it's late in the season now but everything I have tried to grow so far has either been washed away or eaten by slugs... Which is pretty annoying as I had lost interest. Hopefully now though I can get back on track!

As you can see the onions are doing really well but that basically the only thing that has. I planted 3 runner bean plants, only one has come up. I planted loads of fine beans (as they are our favourite) but not a single one has come up. Down the end of the border was broccoli and sprouts, they have all been eaten. It's been so fustrating! I know I probably should have protected them more but it's difficult with the chickens because slug pellets etc are toxic to them. I have the area protected from them but that doesn't stop them getting in from time to time. I think this time round ill use the egg shells I have been saving and sprinkle them round the bottom, see if that makes any difference!

Updates to come!

The Dissertation is DONE!!

152 pages
35,666 words
(8650 words that are marked...)
237,684 characters
1182 paragraphs

What a relief to finally get it done!!!!! Literally apart from a few loose ends to tie up I now have no more academic work to do; just need to finish my placement hours and I have finished my degree! I can't really believe it!

But what do I do now???

Don't get me wrong, there are a million and one things that need to be done, like the cleaning that's been neglected the last few months (apart from the bare essentials), project garden is a mess and needs some serious TLC, I can finally read a book that is not midwifery related and I would quite like to either finish an existing knitting project or start a new one and actually finish it! What I would really love to do is start a sewing project but the lack of sewing machine may be a bit of an issue... Maybe that can be a mother/daughter project text time I am home!

I would like to start with the garden. But it's raining... So I guess it should be the cleaning, I've put a load of washing on, does that count?

For now I am just going to relish in the fact that I don't actually have to do ANYTHING!!!

'Girl Power'

Scott have just gone away for a few days cycling with his brother-in-law and nephew, leaving me on my own to finish my dissertation... Which I should be doing now but I am basically doing anything I can to avoid it.

I have been having a power ballad afternoon, listening and singing along to all the girl power songs i can find! I started off with Paloma Faith - Picking up the Pieces, progressed through Alicia Keys, Florence and the Machine, Christina Perri, Beyonce and Kelly Clarkson, to finally land upon the legend of Stevie Nicks!

Isn't she amazing! I don't know what it is about her but I love her, I want to name my first child after her (providing its a girl that is!). Call me sad, I don't care! Anyway, now I have got that off my chest I am going to do something constructive with my time!
